"Facilitating the success of individual members through support and love." - Transition Retreat 2022 mission statement
Welcome to the official chapter page of Sigma Phi Epsilon Massachusetts Iota.
Since 2009, we have been a nationally chartered fraternity, with an extensive network of brothers. For more information, feel free to contact our newest Vice President of Communications, Emilio Palafox, who can be reached at sigmaphiepsilonmaiota@gmail.com
About our Chapter:
What does it mean to be a brother of Sigma Phi Epsilon Massachusetts Iota?
It means accountability for others. We are a closely-knit group of brothers who work tirelessly to make each other better. "Men and women for others" is a common term thrown around on our campus, but we take that to heart. We work to make each other better, and likewise hold ourselves accountable for another's actions.
It means individuality. As a small chapter, we get to know each and every brother very well. Each man in our chapter brings different skills and talents to the table, and we appreciate and respect that individuality. Despite our brother mentorship programs, we ensure that one maintains that sense of personalism throughout their four years in our fraternity.
It means leadership. Whether it be delivering a presentation, leading a service trip, or taking someone out for lunch, we strive to develop younger brothers into well-spoken, determined gentlemen. With the organization of charity events, conversations and presentations with local alumni, and forming personal bonds for life, our brothers graduate as leaders in their fields, well-groomed for their futures ahead.
It means respect. Being a brother of SigEp Massachusetts Iota comes with restrictions, as we are not affiliated with Boston College, and do not have an official chapter house. Therefore, we are tasked with being professional and strict in following the bylaws of our chapter, as well as the basic structure of our national fraternity. We do not embody the average college "frat," we instead uphold ourselves to be a fraternity of virtue, diligence, and brotherly love. We have no pledge system, and avoid all unwanted public attention through composed chapter behavior and respect for Boston College's policies.
It means brotherhood for life. Once you accept your bid to SigEp Massachusetts Iota, you become one with all those who have done so since our chapter's founding in 2009. We have an impressive and ever-developing network outside of college that keeps alumni in touch with each other as well as the newest members back in Chestnut Hill. Through the Sigma, Phi, Epsilon, and Brother Mentor challenges, we build on member development and strengthening ties within our chapter. This sense of brotherhood is continued after graduation with alumni often returning to campus for keynote presentations, dinners, and chapter meetings.
